You know, when I first wanted to become a Hero, I'm not exactly sure what I expected.

"Hime, why are we still out here? There's nothing happening."

"I know, I know. Just one more hour, okay?"

A purse snatching, or a piercing scream, maybe a burning building to rescue civilians from. Hell, at this point I'd take a jaywalker to scold!

"You could be practicing."

"Yeah."

"Or finding Kongiku."

"I'm trying!"

Maybe the tales of the Trimuvirate influenced me too much. Alexandria's flight, super strength, and invulnerability. Legend's physics defying lasers. Eidolon's everything ever. The kind of heroes a child can look up to. eEvery Hero needs a Villain, though. Heartbreaker. Ash Beast. Butcher. Nilbog. The Slaughterhouse Nine. The Endbringers. Tales of horror unimaginable, fates worse than death. I had to explain all of this to him when I was finally convinced he wasn't a hallucination.

"How ARE you going to avoid killing everyone? My skills are not very merciful."

"I'll burn that bridge when I cross it, now shut up. I think I see some ABB moving further into the Docks."

"Finally! Some action! I swear, Hime, this era is far too peaceful."

Keeping an eye on the gang members, I glance at the floating ball of light next to me. Ever since I triggered in the locker, I've been able to see him. just a little fireball, with the lines of the flame forming a face and hair. I had to google 'Hime' the first time he called me that. Means princess. I couldn't stop blushing for the rest of the day.

He claims to be a ghost from ancient Japan. Well, Nippon is what he first said. Google is my friend.

"If this is peace, I would hate to see your idea of war." I deadpanned.

"Tch! Cheeky brat! Next training, I am going to visit HELL upon you!"

"Uh huh." I signal for silence as I hear someone speaking loudly over the edge of the roof I was perched on. I took a peek. Alright, that's about 30 or 40 ABB members facing a large man with....dragon tattoos....and a metal....mask....Oh. Oh fuck. It's Lung.

"Please tell me you saw a phone booth near here!" I hiss urgently under my breath. Does Lung have super-senses? I can't remember!

"And leave without a fight? Why not stop him?"

"It's Lung! He soloed Leviathan and walked away from it!"

If a ball of flame could shrug, he certainly managed it."So what? I've defeated Gods without a scratch. You may wish to pay attention to what he is saying, though."

With that, I turned back to where Lung was winding up his speech, and listened. it helped that the rest of his gang were silent. Whether out of respect or fear is to be determined, but it made deciphering his accent much easier.

Lung was snarling, "…the children, just shoot. Doesn't matter your aim, just shoot. You see one lying on the ground? Shoot the little bitch twice more to be sure. We give them no chances to be clever or lucky, understand?"

What.

His followers wer nodding and checking their weapons, some of them even joking around as they prepared to move out.

He was going to killkids?!

"So, Hime...what will you do?"

Icouldgo find a payphone and call this in to the PRT. It's Lung, after all. but they were going to killkids! By the time I found a payphone and help arrived, it would probably be too late. As much as I wanted to believe in justice, Emma has taught me otherwise over the past year and a half. The only justice you will find in this world is what you bring.

"What else?"

I stepped forward.

"I'm letting you drive."

And dropped.

------------

Lung was angry. No, angry is a bit soft for how he felt. He was slightlyabsolutely fucking livid. Those Undersider brats think they can steal from his casino? From him? FromLung?!

Lung snarled, "Oni Lee has gone ahead to set the trap. The Undersiders have made a mockery of me. They have stolen from me. An example will be made of them. They excel in escape, so when you see the children, just shoot. Doesn't matter your aim, just shoot. You see one lying on the ground? Shoot the little bitch twice more to be sure. We give them no chances to be clever or lucky, understand?"

He was indifferent about killing them. They were capes. They knew what they were doing when they hit his casino. They challenged the Dragon and they wouldburn from his wrath.

There was a crunch on the sidewalk. He turned to look. A figure in a grey hoodie and black pants was straightening from a crouch as if they- heh. Of course. The noh mask gave it away. How cute. "Get out of here, brat. This has nothing to do with you. Leave, and I won't have my men shoot you."

His enhanced hearing caught a feminine mumble as they turned toward him. "Nonlethal, hime? you know that only makes my job harder...you want me to what?!"

Obviously reluctant, their (her?) arm rose to point at him. And in the most deadpan, cue-card reading monotone he had ever heard, said, "No killing kids tonight, Lung. Surrender now and I won't leave you in pieces."

Crickets chirped. Which was odd because it was still winter.

Lung facepalmed. He didn't do this often, but what he just saw was to ridiculous to do anything else. "Just shoot her." He ordered.

Guns fired and that is when it all went wrong.

---------------

"Oh god, oh god, oh god, I'm gonna die!"

"Calm down, Hime, I've got this." Crescent streaks flashed in constant motion as my blade deflected all of the projectiles that came close to us. Being non-magical in origin, they didn't even leave a scratch on Oboro Muramasa. "Nothing they can do will touch me."

"They're shooting at us!"

"And I'm not being hit. How is this an issue, again."

"....Shut up. Excuse me for panicking a little my first time being shot at."

Eventually, the shooting died down as the mooks realized nothing was getting through. Hmm. It looks like Lung was stepping up to the plate.

"Impressive, girl. You have some skill." The ground around him was beginning to hiss as the water evaporated from the heat of his body and scales were forming along his exposed skin. "What shall I tell them to put on your grave?"

"A name?"

"Crap! I haven't thought of a name yet!"

"If you must call me anything, then Momohime-sama will suffice." I sheathed my blade with a click, preparing its secret art. "You're lucky."

"Oh?" he replied, fire spilling from his cupped hands. "How so?"

"She wants you all to live." I struck and the world turned red.
